Real Estate Project Management & Land Capital

I work for the owner.

Running your project. Or funding your deal.

The PlaceCraft lens

Three things that rarely sit in one person.

01

Design judgment

Trained as an architect, and I practiced as one. I understand design intent, proportion, material transitions and detailing — including where an ordinary material can feel considered simply because it was executed well. I can read a drawing set and see the decisions nobody has made yet.

02

Project discipline

Years running complex work for companies in the Bay Area — architects, engineers, contractors, furniture, interiors, landscape, vendors. Scope, schedule, decisions and follow-through. Complexity gets manageable when the operating system is clear.

03

Owner's mindset

I buy, renovate and operate real estate with my own money, and I fund other people's deals. Capital has an opportunity cost and so does time. Not everything deserves an upgrade, and every dollar should have a reason for being there.

What the three add up to. A project becomes an experience for somebody — the owner, the resident, the tenant, the buyer. Performance and feeling don't have to be opposing goals, and the gap between a place that feels considered and one that feels cheap usually costs nothing at all. It comes down to who was paying attention, and when.

Different work, one lens

Different contexts. The same care.

What changes between them is which lens matters most, and what the owner is actually worried about.

Residential

Homes, rentals and rehabs

Remodels, additions, ADUs, new homes, rental turnovers and rehabs. You care about how it will feel to live in, what it will cost, and whether you'll still be answering contractor texts at 9pm.

What I bring: the design eye to keep the intent alive through construction, and the discipline to keep the budget attached to reality while it happens.

Commercial

Workplace and small commercial

Offices, small retail and professional practices. Landlord requirements, permits, long-lead furniture, and a date you can't move because a lease or an opening depends on it.

What I bring: the coordination work at scale — vendors, consultants, approvals — pointed at a project your size.

Land

Land & development

Raw land, improvements, land-home packages and manufactured home placement. What matters is buildability, the cost of getting to a sellable product, and how fast the capital comes back.

What I bring: an honest underwrite, capital when it's the right deal, and a partner who stays useful through the exit.

About PlaceCraft & Shawn

A designer's eye. An operator's perspective.

I'm Shawn Wang. My background spans architecture, project management and hands-on real estate investing. PlaceCraft brings those disciplines together in a practice where I stay personally involved.

I care about what a project costs, how it gets built, and what it feels like when it is done.
